Is shopping for an Easter Dress real shallow?

Easter's finestPonderings after Easter…

Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus. It represented new beginnings, hope for a future, and the joy that there is beauty, joy, and peace after death. For many, Easter means shopping for a new dress or new clothes. After speaking of the resurrected Christ and eternal life, talk of shopping may seem shallow. But maybe it isn’t as shallow as one might think.

After a bit more research, I discovered ”in the early days of Christianity, newly baptized Christians wore white linen robes at Easter to symbolize birth and new life. But it was not until 300 A.D. that wearing new clothes became an official decree, as the Roman emperor Constantine declared that his court must wear the finest new clothing on Easter. Eventually, the tradition came to mark the end of Lent, when after wearing weeks of the same clothes, worshipers discarded the old frocks for new ones.”1

So friends, shop away! But shop with the image of Christ in mind. Shop with the memories of how He has changed your life forever, and look like a million dollars doing it!

I am attaching this blog post by Jonathon for all you fashionistas out there. It gives a fun history of Easter attire and Easter traditions.
